I first heard about Kate Somerville back in 2012 when I was working at Sephora. She had just released her exfolikate scrub that I honestly wasn’t a fan of. Now almost a decade later I’m back on with Kate, have I grown or has she? I’m not sure but people are raving about her so it’s worth a try.
I purchased Kate Somerville ‘s Face The Glow kit from Sephora the other day. I was having a really bad break out and my skin was looking pretty lackluster so I wanted to treat myself. In her skincare kit ‘The Glow Kit’ it comes with her exfolikate cleanser, the exfolikate intensive treatment, and moisturizer.
I thought the cleanser would be a general anti-acne cleanser, but it was gritty. I thought the ‘exfolikate’ was just a play on her top-selling product like how every Gaga product has ‘HAUS’ on it. But no, it’s another exfoliator. I use it every night as a general cleanser, I don’t have sensitive skin so it doesn’t bother me much.
When it comes to the actual exfoliation step I’ve only used it a few times. I like it a lot better than I had before, however it is a bit harsh for really no reason. It’s fine but I’m not in love with it, but I don’t hate it. The moisturizer is the same, however, I don’t feel as if it’s super hydrating and it’s not anti-aging at all, and at this point in my life, I need to invest in my skincare.
With these products they did what I wanted, they did clear up my pimples. My dark spots and stuff are still there and the product needed to do that is $98. With other products on the market that do more than just clear up dark spots like Sunday Riley Ultra-Clarifying Dry Oil that clearing acne moisturizes and clears any blemish on the face for $85. I could literally have that whole skincare set for less than the $60 dollar skincare kit and a $98 vitamin C serum.
