Mindfulness: What Is It And How Do You Do It?

Slowly but surely we as a people are literally killing ourselves. Our on the go lifestyle is stressing us out and makes us go through life wondering what the heck we did with our time. 

There is hope. The #MindfulnessMovement is growing steam with every inspirational quote and every head standing yogi. But what does it mean to be mindful? 

Mindfulness is taking the time to slow down and focus on one task at a time. Really appreciating and enjoying the moment and the time we are in right now.  

I know it’s easier said than done. How do we do this when we have so much already ready to do but remember that’s exactly what mindfulness is here to stop. That rush, rush, rush lifestyle and let you breathe. 

Start A Morning Or Nightly Ritual. 

It doesn’t have to be a long extensive process. However, you want to signal your brain in a stress-free way that the day is over or is about to begin. Something as little as a quick meditation in the morning and writing down a positive affirmation in a journal in the morning will change your entire mood. You could also take a bit longer in the shower at night and have a nice cup of tea in the evening while reading a good book is something small you can do that helps increase your mindfulness. 

Remembe To Breath In Stressful Situations

Life can be stressful and hectic, it’s life no one said it would be easy. However, when it gets stressful; remember that this moment will too pass. Breathing is known to help calm the mind and can help with stress. It’s ok to take time to breathe for 10 seconds, 5 seconds in through the nose and 5 seconds out through the mouth. It helps so much.
